Myanmar Airways International (MAI) temporarily suspends China charter operations effective 31 January 2020; provides options for passengers of schedule Guangzhou (CAN) flights

In view of the recent Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCov) outbreak infection originated in Wuhan, China, MAI will suspend all of its China charter operations temporarily effective 31 January 2020 until further notice to assist in controlling the current outbreak situation and comply with authorities’ requirements.

As part of this suspension, the affected routes are charter flights to / from 10 cities in China, namely, Hangzhou (HGH), Hefei (HFE), Jinan (TNA), Jinjiang (JJN), Linyi (LYI), Nanchang (KHN), Nanjing (NKG), Ningbo (NGB), Qingdao (TAO) and Yantai (YNT).

MAI will also ensure the necessary provisions for passengers with flight bookings via direct MAI channels (website, mobile app, ticketing offices and airport counters) to / from Guangzhou (CAN) in mainland China to change their travelling dates without any additional cost, subject to seats availability. Any passengers holding a valid MAI ticket to / from Guangzhou (CAN) are given the following options:

1. Reservation Change Flight: One-time date change to a new travel date on the same route within 30 calendar days from the original flight date without additional cost, subject to seat availability. Applicable for all flights to / from Guangzhou (CAN) until 15 February 2020, that was ticketed prior to 26 January 2020.

2. Refund:    

- For Wholly Unused Ticket: Full refund of orginal payment received by MAI. Applicable for all flights to / from Guangzhou (CAN) until 15 February 2020 that was ticketed prior to 26 January 2020. Refund requests can be made by email – [email protected] and [email protected]  

- For Partial Used Ticket: Full refund of orginal payment received by MAI. Applicable for all flights to / from Guangzhou (CAN) until 15 February 2020 that was ticketed prior to 26 January 2020. Refund requests can be made by email – [email protected] and [email protected]

For bookings made through Travel Agents including Online Travel Agents (OTA), refund requests are to be made via the respective Travel Agents accordingly.
