FAQ

What is the best time of year to visit Myanmar?

Myanmar can be visited the whole year around. It all depends on where you are planning to travel. Officially there are 3 seasons: Hot, Cool and Wet (Monsoon). The Hottest period is from March to May, The Monsoon is from the end of May to mid October and the Cool season is from October to late February.

During the monsoon it gets very wet in Yangon and the coastal regions, but in places like Bagan and Mandalay, it is cool and green with only light showers for 3 to 4 days in a week. These areas get only about 20 inches of rain annually compared to 100-200 inches in Yangon.

It is best to visit the hilly northern regions during the hot season because they will remain significantly cooler. In the cool season temperatures can get as low as 0°C!

Although Myanmar is classified as a tropical country, the northern regions lie above the Tropic Of Cancer and are in the temperate zone.
